MyFitnessPal Training

Welcome to your ultimate guide to macro tracking with MyfitnessPal.  This tutorial will show you how to register and set up your MyfitnessPal so you can easily track your macros and hit your daily nutritional goals!

That said... Let's get started!

Setting up your account:

  • The first thing I’m going to get you to do is click on the sign up button.  From here you can either click sign up with email or continue with facebook... I’m going to have you sign up with email

  • Now a whole bunch of questions are going to come up.  From here you can choose what your goal is, but it doesn’t really matter which one you pick because we are going to be setting up your own personalized macros later

  • Then you are going to click on how active you are... choose “Active”

  • From there you click if you are either male or female and your date of birth by using the slider at the bottom

  • After that you can put in what country you live in

  • Then go up to the top of your screen and click the arrow next button

  • From there you are going to select how tall you are and what your weight is

  • Then click the next button again and this is where we pop in your email address, choose your password and select your user name.  MyfitnessPal will autogenerate a name for you but you can erase it and select your own if it's available.  Then click the next button at the top.

  • On the next screen you want to click “Accept All” and accept at the bottom

  • The next page will say “Your daily net kilojoule goal is:”. Please switch this over to calories.  NOTE: this is the target that MyfitnessPal has calculated out for you.  You won’t be using this one, you’ll be using your own macronutrient and calorie total that we calculate for you.  There are also other things down below that you can click on so you can choose those that you wish to use.  Then press "Continue"

  • From here you can upgrade to premium, which I personally do use because in my personal programming I occasionally eat a different macro schedule based on the days of the week.  Right now we are not going to do that - this tutorial will be for the FREE version of MyfitnessPal

  • Now from here it will take you to this page where you can start to add your meals for the day.  So we are going to cover this later, so I’m just going to get you to click skip for now.

  • Now the next thing you want to do is make sure the email address is correct and verify your email 

  • At the bottom on the right hand side select where it says "more" and  scroll down and click on “Settings”

  • After you are in “Settings” click on “Profile”

  • And then you want to go into “Units” and just make sure everything has been put in correctly here

  • The main thing I want you to just make sure is that your energy is selected to “Calories”

  • Once you’ve updated all of that just click the next button up at the top on the side and you are good to go

  • You can also check all your user information here and upload a photo, which you can either choose to take a new photo or upload one that you already have on your device

  • And the last thing I want to add is that there is an option to share your diary with friends and add me on!  My user name is kristienrees

  • So that is how you set up your MyfitnessPal with all your correct personal details and measurements for tracking
